Petzl has issued a recall affecting specific production batches of its popular NOMIC (U021AA00) and ERGONOMIC (U022AA00) ice axes.
According to the company, there is a risk of breakage at the handle, which could lead to a fall and serious injury. Climbers in possession of the affected models are advised to stop using the ice axes immediately. The affected units can be identified using the information shown in photo below.
Petzl is offering a handle replacement through its customer service network. Users should contact the company directly to initiate the recall process.
